FAILURE IS NEVER FINAL NOR FATAL
by Pastor Rick Sams

Gettysburg, Normandy. Waterloo. In many wars the final outcome can be traced to a single pivotal battle.

The British Isles awaited the news of what happened between their great General Wellington and a tiny, terrible tyrant who had marched across Europe conquering everything in sight.

The signal started flashing from the continent of the outcome of that pivotal Battle of Waterloo June 18, 1815. All they could read was “Wellington defeated…” before the fog rolled in and obliterated the rest of the fateful message.

Everyone was in mourning. Handwringing abounded. Dire predictions ruled the day. There were suicides…until. The fog lifted and the rest of the message shone clearly: “Wellington defeated Napoleon at Waterloo.”

How many times have you thrown in the towel prematurely? How many times do we quit one hour too early? What if we had lingered a little longer? What outcomes could have been different? What battles could we have won?

  Woulda, coulda, shoulda…

I’ve heard it said: “With God failure is never final nor fatal.”

The key part of that quote is “With God.”

“I press on toward the goal…I can do everything through him [Christ] who gives me strength” (Philippians 3:14; 4:13).
