"More than one million Chlamydia cases. "Gonorrhea
going off the charts. "Syphilis superbug unleashed. Headlines for a
Happy New Year!
Just the good news you wanted to hear as you prepare to
party.
But I�m not the party pooper. Blame the white-coated
researchers at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These
are the latest light reading reports coming from those party guys for
2007. Some researchers are celebrating the stats as actually good because
it indicates better, more intensive screening and more accurate reporting.
Those scientists should take up new careers in politics because they really know
how to put "spin on a story (Review, Nov. 14, 2007, p.
D1)
We haven�t even touched on all the single moms out there who have
become single moms from engaging in risky sexual behaviors. The best way
to guarantee you will live below the poverty line is to become a single
mother. Jamie Lynn Spears MIGHT be the exception.
So before you
rush off to risky behaviors this party season, remember what the prestigious
American Medical Association reported years ago in the midst of the AIDS scare:
"We have determined that monogamous sexual relationships are by far the
healthiest. They actually reported this with a straight face like they had
just split the atom.
To the boy-wonders at the AMA: I hate to pop your
ego-inflated balloon, but God came up with that bit of wisdom long ago. He
gave us these words of life in His Word, the Bible, our only reliable roadmap
for life: "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife, and they will become one flesh (Genesis 2:24). There is
fidelity, exclusivity, endurance and the path to REAL LIFE in that one verse in
Genesis.
Genesis means "beginnings. Why not have an excellent
beginning to your new year with a fresh commitment to follow God�s ways.
His ways lead to life. Our ways often lead to disease and death. Our
heavenly Father knows best.
